Duke & Co is a one-person web studio based in Dunedin. I build custom websites for small businesses — properly, with real code, on infrastructure that doesn't break.

A gap in the middle. Proper sites, sensible prices

I started this because I kept seeing the same pattern: Dunedin businesses either paying thousands for an agency site they couldn't update themselves, or struggling with a DIY builder that never quite looked right. There's a gap in the middle — a proper custom site, at a price that makes sense, from someone who's actually here.

Every site I build runs on Cloudflare's edge network. No WordPress, no plugins, no database to back up. Just fast, clean code that loads in under a second and doesn't need babysitting.

I'm not trying to build an agency. I'm trying to serve a few dozen businesses in my own town, and do it well enough that you'd recommend me to the person standing next to you at the counter.

Honest scope

I'll tell you what your site needs and what it doesn't. If a five-page site does the job, I'm not going to sell you fifteen pages and a blog you'll never write.

02 · lock-in

No lock-in

You own your domain, your content, and your code. If you leave, everything comes with you. I'd rather earn your business every month than trap you in a contract.

03 · craft

Proper craft

Your site gets the same engineering standards I'd apply to software used by millions. It loads in under a second, it works on every screen, and it doesn't need babysitting. You won't notice most of that. That's the point.
